Designing, Customizing, and Publishing e.Spreadsheet Reports
Course Length: 2 Days
Who Should Attend?
Report developers
Prerequisites:
A working knowledge of SQL, and familiarity with HTML and/or XML is highly recommended for this class.
Course Description:
The first day of this course teaches business users and other report designers to use Actuates e.Spreadsheet Server to design, run, and deploy e.Spreadsheet reports for viewing on the web. In a laboratory setting, students learn e.Spreadsheet reporting concepts and how to use e.Spreadsheet Designer wizards to create automated spreadsheet-based reports. Exercises progress from creating simple reports to complex designs using grouping, run-time parameters, and a variety of external data sources. Topics in the course include using automated report formatting, charts, Data Manager, hyperlinks, Query Editor, and stored procedures.
The second day teaches students to display summary data in a pivot range, set up a report hierarchy in a matrix range, import and use XML data, and implement code-based report design using Java callback classes and XSLT stylesheets. Exercises include creating and modifying a pivot range, building a matrix range, setting up an XML data source, creating and deploying a callback class, and exporting and modifying a report stylesheet.
Each student receives a comprehensive course manual, which functions both as a workbook during class, and as a detailed reference guide once the class is completed.
